Whether you are a consumer or a licence holder, if you suspect an offence has been committed, you may ask for help from the OACIQ Assistance Service, who will analyze the case and determine how to proceed.

To send a request for assistance to the OACIQ, fill out the “Request for Assistance” form, taking care to describe all the facts that occurred.

Professional fault

You may send a request for an inquiry to the Association des courtiers et agents immobiliers du Québec regarding the professional conduct of one of its members. If based of the information we receive from you, the Office of the Syndic has reason to believe that the membre has violated the provisions of the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations, an investigation will be made and, if warranted, a complaint will be filed with the discipline committee. The penalties can be applied in the form of a fine, a suspension or a revocation of the member's certificate but that under no circumstances would they include damages, as this recourse falls within the jurisdiction of the civil courts. In order to speed up the investigation process by the Office of the Syndic, we invite you to use the "Request for an inquiry" form.

The promise to purchase

When the promise to purchase is drafted, the real estate broker or agent must discuss with the buyer each phase of the buying process. This step must include an analysis of the buyer's needs and objectives and an evaluation of his financial capacity. It is up to the broker or agent to ensure that the buyer clearly identifies what he is seeking in accordance with his means.
