With Synbad Technologies Assisted Purchasing (TM), the ACAIQ gives Québec real estate brokers and agents access to a team of experts to assist them with the purchase of office and computer equipment. This team, made up of a purchasing manager and two advisors, is on the lookout for technological advances and answers the requests and questions of ACAIQ members regarding the purchase of computer hardware.

From the very beginnings of the profession, brokers felt a need to work together to share information and adopt standards of practice and ways to collaborate to carry out transactions. In fact, collaboration is so crucial to the smooth functioning of the profession that the legislator has deemed it necessary to enshrine it in the Real Estate Brokerage Act and regulations to ensure the protection of the public as well as to promote harmony in the practice of real estate brokerage.

The phenomenon of brokers who hire "assistants" has grown over the past few years. Although this situation may appear to be legitimate in itself, its application poses problems of consistency with the Real Estate Brokerage Act. What can be done to meet these brokers' needs while respecting the legal framework?

After only one year of existence, the working group on mortgage brokerage created by the OACIQ, in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP), took concrete and very positive actions for mortgage brokerage in Quebec.

Recently, Info OACIQ Center has received many calls from real estate brokers regarding a fraud scheme that has already been detected and which seems to have resumed again.

One of the OACIQ’s mandates is to conduct investigations and bring criminal charges, if any, against the non-licence holders who engage in acts that are reserved for brokers. In recent years, the assistance requests addressed to the OACIQ concerning illegal practice of real estate or mortgage brokerage have increased substantially.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Giovanni Castiglia, on April 29th, as the OACIQ Syndic. Mr. Castiglia joined the Organization in 2001 as Assistant Syndic. Since last November, he assumed the role of the syndic.
