Licence holders have a duty to provide accurate and verified information. This topic has been covered extensively in OACIQ articles, all of which are available on the OACIQ website. Here are a few handy web links and telephone numbers to facilitate the verification process:
- Owner names and marital status
- Capacity to contract
- Cadastral designation of an immovable, verification of property taxes and other tax information
- Check with the municipal authorities concerned. For contact information, consult the Répertoire des municipalités du Québec (Directory of Québec municipalities)
- Copies of seller’s titles including declaration of co-ownership and/or indivision agreement
- Whether or not the sale of the immovable is subject to sales taxes
