FAQ
1. I'm looking for an article that no longer seems to be on the website. What should I do?
- Use the search engine (magnifying glass) by entering a keyword of the title, topic, or the number of the article to see if anything comes up. You may be redirected to the concordance table if the article has been depublished or integrated into another article.
- To check whether the article is in the concordance table, use Ctrl+F with a keyword of the title or the number of the article and see if the page has been depublished or if the content has been incorporated into another article.
2. How can I find the functionalities I was using on the old site?
The new site offers improved functionalities compared to the old site:
- A more powerful search engine showing the results of your previous searches and proposing the most viewed articles
- An easy and logical navigation for every user group
- A better sharing of information because most articles are public
- A section reserved for brokers, containing everything a licensee needs to meet his professional obligations
If you are a member of the public, a General Public section is dedicated to you and includes topics that are based on your recurring questions about the various steps of a real estate transaction.
If you are a real estate broker, go to the Licensees section and browse through the menus. For example, the certification forms are no longer in the Services section but in the Licence and Certification section. They are also associated with the most popular actions related to this topic, such as changing agency, obtaining a licence, etc.
You may also use the magnifying glass to search by keyword.
3. Is there a guide or tutorial to help me navigate the new site?
Yes, a tutorial has been created for the website and another one for the password-protected section, which is now called Brokers' Area.
4. What does the Brokers' Area (synbad.com) contain since there is already a section called Licensees?
Protected by a password, the Brokers' Area section provides real estate brokerage licensees with a secure access to their records where they can view or modify their personal information (hence the need for a data protection identifier), access their statements, receipts and inspection reports, as well as the content of the FARCIQ insurance policy.
Furthermore, in the Licensees section, you will find informative articles classified by topic (e.g. brokerage forms, continuing education, professional inspection, etc.). Except for a few FARCIQ articles and standard clauses, all informative articles are available in the Licensees section, without the need for real estate brokers to log in with a username and password. This is very practical for sharing informative articles with your clients.
5. What are the new features and benefits of the new website?
- The search engine is more powerful, providing results for the most viewed articles first.
- Content is classified in a much more intuitive way, according to the subject you are looking for.
- The browsing experience has been enhanced to be optimal on computers and mobile devices.
6. Does the site support mobile phones and tablets?
Yes, the site has a mobile version. When you are navigating on a mobile device, the various buttons and links remain the same, but their location may vary to suit the specific features of each device model.
For example, the Check a broker's record button will appear when you touch the word “Menu” on the right.
7. Which browsers are compatible with the new website?
The site is compatible with all browsers. Moreover, the site has been designed to suit mobile devices.
8. I'm not happy with your new website. How can I give you my feedback?
We are committed to meeting your needs and improving continuously.
When you click on the banner button “Welcome to the new OACIQ website,” you will be taken to a tutorial page to help you navigate the site. At the bottom of this page, you will find a survey link where you can give us your feedback. Rest assured that we will read it!
9. I filed a request for assistance (complaint) with the OACIQ. Can I contact the concerned department directly?
Go to the Contact Us page, select your profile and then choose the subject of your request from the drop-down menu. Then select “Follow-up on a complaint already filed with the OACIQ” and write your message. The message will be sent directly to the department concerned and the usual response times will apply.
10. Do we have to do more clicks than before to find certain content?
The website has been revamped to be clearer and more structured. Although some content may require an extra click, this helps organize the information better and make it easier to navigate the entire site. The search engine is very practical to access the information you need directly.
This approach provides more intuitive access to information, and the user path has been optimized based on the most frequent needs.
We also wanted to avoid overloading information on a single page.
11. Why do I need to enter an access code to access standard clauses?
The standard clauses contain specific and sensitive information reserved for licensees. Only authorized professionals can access this information to ensure that it is used properly in real estate transactions to protect the public.
12. Why was the website changed?
First, the technology behind the previous website was outdated and could potentially have caused security issues.
What's more, we knew that the browsing experience was not optimal. That's why we prioritized the user experience, taking into account the needs of the different audiences of the OACIQ.
