Rental of dwelling units in an immovable

Renting a dwelling unit in a co-ownership property is commonplace in Québec. In 2020, more than 38% of condo occupants were renters.

The current trend towards urban densification through co-ownership units may well contribute to an increase in the rate of condo renters.

A co-owner who decides to rent out his unit must be aware of the rules governing such a decision, in order to avoid any conflict within the co-ownership property.

More and more owners are offering temporary rentals of their units on vacation websites. This can make for interesting extra income, but there are rules to follow.
